Parents celebrate Only her Wedding ?

Before a #SelfieWithDaughter, Dear parents, Read this

Dear Parents,

If your Son wants to pursue PG or PhD will you stop? Obviously the answer is “No”.

Then why don’t you encourage your daughter?

Is money really a problem? Or the bridegroom?

Yes you read it correctly.

Is it really so?

Think slowly again.

Or is it parent’s mindset towards a girl that she should not be educated more than the boy??

A girl is supposed to be educated only till her degree, because of ‘modern reasons’. After that they say –

“అమ్మాయిలకు ఇంతకన్నా చదువులు ఎందుకండి ? మళ్లీ ఎక్కువ చదివిస్తే తనకంటే ఎక్కువ చదివిన అబ్బాయిని తెచ్చి పెళ్లి చేయాలి. అంత చదువుకున్న అమ్మయిలు ఇంటి పనులు చేయాలిసిందే. అస్సలు అమ్మాయి జాబ్ చేయడం వారికి నచ్చుతుందో లేదో. ”

(English Translation: “There is no necessity to educate her beyond this. Even if we get them educated, we should bring a guy, who is more educated than her. How much ever she studies, at the end of the day, she should do the house work (chores). We don’t know, if the guy would like she doing a job, after the marriage.”)

Just because her future groom won’t study more than her, and as it would be difficult for her parents to search a match for her, they don’t encourage a girl even though she wants time for herself.

Are we supposed to marry that kind of guy, who doesn’t encourage us to do a better job?

Are we supposed to handover the money we earn with sweat to these kinds of guys or families??

That apart, In today’s world most of us believe that ‘Girls’ are getting equal opportunities along with boys. But sadly, in real world, NO.

Do we (girls) really have freedom?

If a Girl wants to study, let her. Doing PhD is not a joke. Not everyone can do it.

Just because a girl wishes to do her PhD after Masters does not mean she doesn’t want to settle down in life.

Give her a break, and respect the fact that she has the confidence to take that up, because yeah, PhD is no joke. There will come a point when she would happily devote herself to her family, and balance it out with her work life. Her degrees, or lack of them, won’t make any difference. Let her study while she wants to, okay?

Not every girl wants to get married by 23. So before you ASSUME she is of marriageable age, ask her what her views on marriage are. Just because she does not want to get married now, does not mean she never will. She has other plans for herself right now, let her live a little.

Just because she is 27 and unmarried does not mean something is wrong with her. Maybe, being single is a choice she has made, for growth in career.

There are many who might be fighting this losing battle, yet compromising on their decisions and plans, just to please society.

Times are changing; don’t confine her within those boundaries, no matter how orthodox you are.
